Getting around just got even easier and greener at TU Dublin with the arrival of Bleeper to the Blanchardstown campus, the latest addition to the University's Smarter Travel initiatives. With two designated Bleeper bike parking stations now located on campus, students and staff have new convenient, affordable and sustainable transport options accessible within the campus.
The partnership, together with Fingal County Council, supports TU Dublin's commitment to promoting active travel, reducing transport-related emissions and making sustainable commuting more accessible for the campus community.
TU Dublin's Smarter Travel Coordinator, Rebecca Flanagan met Fingal County Council's Walking & Cycling Officer, Stephen McGinn, and Bleeper's Commercial Director, Richard Greene, to showcase the new initiative.
A Convenient Connection to Local Amenities
Bike share provides an easy link between campuses and key destinations across the area. An e-bike journey from TU Dublin Blanchardstown's campus to the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre takes approximately 10 minutes, and will cost students no more than €2, offering a quick and convenient alternative to driving or waiting for public transport.
Free Pedal Bike Trips for Fingal Residents
Students and staff living within the Fingal County Council boundary can benefit from the Fingal Pass, which provides free Bleeper pedal bike trips thanks to the support of Fingal County Council.
This initiative helps make sustainable travel even more affordable for local residents and encourages greater use of active transport throughout the county. Users should note that the Fingal Pass applies to pedal bikes only, and does not include e-bikes.
50% Discount for Students and Young Adults
Students and young adults aged 18 to 25 can avail of a 50% discount on all Bleeper trips, including both pedal bikes and e-bikes.
The discount applies to Bleeper's pay-as-you-go rates, reducing both the unlock fee and per-minute journey costs.
For example:
- A 10-minute trip on a pedal bike costs €0.75 instead of €1.50
- A 10-minute trip on an e-bike costs €1.95 instead of €3.90
- The standard €1 unlock fee is reduced to €0.50
Eligible students can apply for the discount through Bleeper by completing an online application and providing proof of eligibility.

Please note that the Fingal Pass and the Student Pass cannot be used together, and users should choose one offer (a customer cannot be in two different discount groups at the same time.)
Designated bike station area
The designated bike station for Bleeper bikes is outside Aras Geal and to the north end of Croí (C Block). See circles in the image below.

Supporting Smarter Travel at TU Dublin
The arrival of Bleeper marks another significant step in TU Dublin's efforts to support a more sustainable and connected campus environment. By encouraging cycling and reducing reliance on private cars, the initiative supports healthier lifestyles while contributing to the University's climate action and sustainability goals.
