Bleeper is launching a massive expansion of our sustainable transport services in Dublin. Throughout the month of August, we will introduce 750 brand new electric bikes, growing our total number of shared bikes in the capital to more than 1,500.
This major fleet growth represents a significant milestone in Bleeper's mission to offer sustainable, efficient, and green transport options for Dubliners. The expansion comes at a critical time when electric bikes are rapidly growing in popularity in cities across Europe.
With Bleeper’s bike fleet effectively doubling in size, the company has grown too, with new jobs being created for cycle technicians and operations staff - along with new workspaces being commissioned - to support our enhanced Dublin operations.
The expansion is proudly supported by Bleeper’s public bikes sponsor, Payzone, whose distinctive branding will feature across the new e-bike fleet.
Key Information
The deployment begins on August 1st and will continue throughout the month. Here are the main things you need to know:
- The new e-bikes will be seamlessly integrated into the Bleeper app - just look for the e-bike symbol or use the filter to only show e-bikes on the map.
- The cost of hiring an e-bike is a €1 Unlock Fee and €0.29 per minute.
- An e-bike with a full battery will have a range of approximately 50km - more than enough for a commute between the city centre and the suburbs.
- The e-bikes are manufactured by Segway, a global giant in micromobility, and have been selected by Bleeper for their suitability to Dublin. The e-bikes have a low-step frame - making them easier for users of all shapes and sizes - along with an upright seating position and 20inch wheels which enhance the comfort and stability while cycling.
- The new Bleeper e-bikes have a series of built-in safety features, including a ‘Reduced Speed’ mode which automatically slows the bike when a user enters a geo-fenced ‘Slow Zone.’ There will also be ‘No-Entry Zones’ in which the e-bike will stop and lock itself if a user fails to turn around when prompted to do so.
